Ed, there is a big difference between elevating your
levels naturally and supplying the hormones
exogenously.

Besides the obvious problem, as you point out that
people go far beyond the safe levels of these
substances, there are other problems.

Firstly exogenous Hgh is synthetic and my not have the
exact same effect as the home made stuff. But more
importantly, when you are able to stimulate an
increased production through natural means (exercise,
proper diet and rest) you facilitate the bodies
infrastructure (biochemical mechanisms) for producing
this hormone and the body responds by producing what
the body needs and not more. The body has natural
feedback mechanisms which prevent it from producing
more than it needs.

When you provide any hormone exogenously you are not
supplementing the body's production but replacing it.
As the body senses an increase in hormone because of
the exogenous supply it decreases endogenous
production proportionately (by way of he
aforementioned feedback mechanism).

If you supply enough exogenously to meet the body's
need for the hormone (this goes for all hormones, not
just HGH) the body turns off endogenous production of
that hormone completely.

As a result the body , with time, begins to dismantle
the infrastructure (biochemical mechanisms) for the
production of that hormone. In other words the body
becomes less capable of responding to its needs and
now relies on exogenous hormone supply. Your body
eventually becomes totally dependent on the exogenous
source.

It is also important to note that just as there are
disease states caused by inadequate production of
individual hormones there are also just as many
diseases cause by overproduction of individual
hormones.

Just go to a medical library and pickup an
Endocrinology text book and you find as many chapters
dedicated to underproduction of hormones as there are
for overproduction of hormones.

As for the source of exogenous growth hormone check
out the following headline.

recently I posted some info on problems with HGH
suppliers in China.

Finally does any one know what is the safe dose of
synthetic HGH hormone for a given age group? Is this
evidence backed up with clinical studies?
