The answer to that question is you can not really use a Smith machine for Olympic lifts. The Smith forces you to lift in a strict up and down motion..The C&J and snatch are not a direct up and down motion. In fact I can't even fathom trying to get underneath a smith machine bar and trying to catch it. Also there is far less resistance(easier to lift the bar) on a Smith machine then on a free bar. My recommendation would be to find another gym and a weightlifting coach to do the type of lifting you are looking to do.
