Hello Vantika~
I have been battling acne on my shoulders and back for the last 10
years. It is definitely no fun! Let me just start by saying that
there isn't any "miracle cure" out there -- I have been searching for
that holy grail for a long time. But I will share with you my routine
(tedious as it may be) -- consistancy with this is really the only
thing that helps me. I definitely know it if I skip a step!
I take my showevers at night. This way, you wash away all of the dirt
and oil buildup from the day when you are sweating and your metabolism
is kicking. You give your skin a clean slate to start healing
overnight while you rest. Also, don't wear makeup! Or, I find that
100% pure mineral powders are fine for my skin (make sure that there
are no preservatives/
When I wash I use Dr. Bronner's castille soap. I buy the unscented
variety, and sometimes add tea tree or lavender essential oils
(definitely not fragrance oils! These will only be harmful to your
skin). This soap can be very drying if your skin is sensitive, so mix
3 parts soap and 1 part hazelnut oil (hazelnut has astringent
properties, and is great for oily skin!). Massage in and let foam,
then leave on your face for a minute or so, and wash off with warm water.
I mix hazelnut oil with some coconut oil to apply to my face after
cleansing. I've heard that coconut oil clogs your pores.... I have
not had this experience with it, but if that is the case with you omit
the coconut oil. Other light oils that are good for oily skin are
sweet almong and apricot kernal. Play around with these until you
find a mixture that agrees with you.
Finally, I know that this is the terrible "T" word that every
dermatologist loathes.... but I got tanning! I sun myself in the
warmer months and tan for a few minutes once a week during the winter.
I sneak in my own blend of hempseed oil and green tea extract, german
chamomile and carrot seed essential oils. I just tell the attendants
that it's hemp seed oil, which is found in most of their artificial
and destructive tanning lotions, so they let me in with it. Honestly,
I spent eight years avoiding the sun at all costs because everyone
told me it was horrible and would make my skin worse.... and when I
stopped listening to them, my skin cleared up!
Anyway, this is just my experience. Just remember to be patient and
consistant=) And be gentle and forgiving to your skin. A lot of the
time we feel angry towards our skin for being the way that it is, but
what we need to focus on is healing our skin not only on the surface,
but from the inside out. That's why it's important to drink plenty of
water and eat plenty of whole, nutrient-dense foods. Supporting the
liver and other eliminitive organs is a must as well.
Anyway, I've rambled on far too long! Good luck,
Rose
