Hi Michelle,
My daughter, Olivia, was scanned instead of casting at the CT in VA. They have been scanning instead of casting for about three months now. I have not had the experience of casting however, so I can't comment on that. The scanning that we did with CT went wonderfully! We had to strip her down to her diaper and then they put this meshy looking stocking over her head and snipped the front to expose her face. From there they sat her on a stool, held her and scanned her head(which was actually like just taking her picture again). It took all about 5 minutes. When we went back in two weeks to pick up the band they had the mold of her head on a stick :) (best way I can describe it :) and the band fit perfectly. I agree with the other ladies that CT is a highly trained and professionally facility. They certainly would not be scanning if not qualified or proficient enough to do so.
We have absolutely no regrets in doing the scanning!
