Re: [Plagio] Question about bump/ridge on top of head

Hi Dawn,
My daughter exited her band last April. So it's been about 9 months. She was almost 18 months old at that time (she had two bands). She's 26 months now, so her skull has fused completely... and it's still there. I could see it at first if I really looked for it (because her hair was quite thin back then as it was growing in), especially when she had her hair wet in the tub. But now, you can't see it at all because she has so much hair. If you really look closely during bathtime and her hair is wet and parted a certain way, you can see it. More than anything, I can just feel it, like when I do her hair in the morning.
It bugs me and I stressed a lot about it originally (I really didn't buy that whole, "it's soft tissue, it will go down" explanation). I was complaining about it before she finished her band, and they didn't make adjustments to help it... they just kept saying it feels like bone but it's really soft tissue or fluid. It seemed clear as day to me based on its location and shape that it was her skull plate raised up at that suture, from the adjacent skull plate being held down. It's not rocket science or anything LOL.
How old is your daughter? If she's younger, she might have more time for it to even out, my daughter was already 18 months old, when most sutures are already fused.

Hi Colleen,

What you describe is exactly what Anna has on her head. I honestly think it is from the same reason you just stated. It is right along the edge of the Doc band opening.

How long has your daughter been our of the band? CT told us that it might be less obvious once her skull hardens. The stress just never ends. Can you see your daughter's ridge or is it more that you can feel it?

Thanks, Dawn

HI Dawn,
My daughter had a similar thing.. her's was a ridge... that was shaped like a line... on the top of her head, perpendicular to her hairline... right where the edge of the DOCband's cap came.
My daughter's never went away (even though they said it would). It feels like the plate of her skull, right where that suture is, is uplifted a bit, to form a bumped ridge.
I think it was because the cap part of the DOCband held down her head and the open area next to it, is the area where her head grew upward.
Some others have reported soft tissue bumps, so maybe that's what your is, I hope so, so it can go away!!
Regards,
Colleen

Subject: [Plagio] Question about bump/ridge on top of head

I have a question and I hope that someone has had the same issue and that it resolved itself. Anna is about to graduate from her Docband next week and her head looks great. She does have a bump/ridge on the top of her head and we were told that it may or may not go away as her head grows.

Has anyone come across this? You don't see it but if you feel the top of her head you notice it. I know it isn't a big deal but I am a little freaked about it.

Thanks!
Dawn
