Everybody had seen the television adverts of the amazing work that water filters can do. Adverts using computer generations to show water as it filters through their device, all the minuscule particles being removed producing a clean, crisp and clear glass of water at the end of the process. It is a trend that began just over a decade ago and has steadily gained in popularity since. Seemingly purer water is something we all need.

The first water filters were bulky things that would sit on the kitchen work surface, with replacing the cartridge being an element of guess work that relied upon your own taste buds to exact the time of replacement. Modern water filters however are high tech science, sleek and often designed to fit in the fridge door without taking up too much space, long gone are the unwieldy water filters of old. Also the cartridge replacement systems on modern water filters are far more advanced often with digital meters to inform you of the time your filter cartridge needs changing.

For those in hard water areas, water filters are strongly advised for anyone who would like to have a kettle that lasts longer than a year. Lime scale build up is a major reason behind kettle malfunction and a water filter can solve this problem, by filtering hard water before it enters your kettle, firstly your cup of tea will taste better, the water will be softer and your kettle's life will be vastly improved.

Being vital to our health, water is a staple of life for human beings. Water filters can give us purer water making this necessity of existence cleaner and safer. Tap water has improved, although the chemicals used in water treatment plants can be harmful to our health. Chlorine used since it was found to kill waterborne diseases such as typhoid and cholera has recently received bad press. Some chemicals, such as chlorine have been attributed to increase the risks of cancer and respiratory ailments such as asthma. This makes water filters vital for many families who feel the risks of tap water are too great, preferring to treat their water before drinking.

With the rise of industry in the modern world, water filters and their purification services have become evermore important. Worries about the chemicals injected into the water system by major industry have been rife. For the companies manufacturing water filters this has been a good business opportunity. The more the risks of tap water are raised, the more money the water filter companies will make. After all the option of living on bottled water is somewhat limited to those that can afford to pay extortionate amounts for water.

The modern world has restricted the extent to which water is cleaned naturally. By removing ecological cleaning methods through dredging, damming and channelling water in concrete canals and aqueducts we have removed the natural processes of filtration meaning harsh chemicals are used instead of allowing naturally clean water to become apparent. Water filters carry out this natural filtration process and also remove the cleaning chemicals used. For those who like their water crystal clear, and tasting pure there is really no other choice than to use water filters.
